Milestones in our company’s history
1979 – Founding of ELEKTRA
ELEKTRA Gesellschaft für elektrotechnische Geräte mbH was founded by Horst Ehlebracht and Jürgen Heitmann. From day one, the company focused on combining advanced technology with practical, real-world applications to create useful lighting solutions.

1983 – Entry into Furniture Lighting
At its first interzum exhibition (under the ENORM brand), ELEKTRA introduced its first built-in furniture light. This marked the beginning of our dedicated focus on furniture lighting, a direction that still defines us today.
1987 – Establishment in the furniture industry
ELEKTRA exhibited at Interzum in Cologne for the first time with its own stand, quickly becoming a trusted partner for furniture manufacturers and the industry supply chain.
1989 – International Expansion
We began to actively grow our international sales. Today, ELEKTRA lighting solutions are used in approximately 55 countries worldwide.
1994 – Light + Project
We expanded our portfolio to include complete project solutions for commercial interiors, retail spaces, and shops. ELEKTRA began developing comprehensive lighting systems for full spatial concepts.
2001 – System innovation
Our patented mini plug-in system set new industry standards for furniture lighting with its easy installation, safety, and flexibility.
2005 – Expansion of System Solutions
We further developed the mini plug-in system and introduced innovative products, such as illuminated light panels. This strengthened our position as a leading supplier of integrated lighting systems for furniture.
From 2009 – Focus on LED Technology
ELEKTRA was an early adopter of LED technology, investing heavily in the development of ultra-slim, energy-efficient, and long-lasting LED lighting solutions for furniture and interiors.
2024 – International growth
The establishment of our U.S. subsidiary (ELEKTRA USA INC.) and several international design and quality awards marked a significant milestone in our global expansion.
