ELEKTRA impresses the jury of the iF DESIGN AWARD with its LD 8228 ring light

iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 for ELEKTRA

Ring light impresses international designers

A ring light made by ELEKTRA, the innovative manufacturer of LED lighting systems based in Enger in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has impressed the jury for the international iF DESIGN AWARD. The minimalist solution for kitchen and bathroom furniture combines a sophisticated design and high-quality technology with sustainability and simple handling.

The innovative LD 8228 ring light from ELEKTRA has won the renowned iF DESIGN AWARD for 2025. “We’re very proud of this award because it not only calls attention to our light’s aesthetic features but also underscores its special functional characteristics,” says Boris Niessing, Managing Director of ELEKTRA. In view of the almost 11,000 competition entries from 66 countries, Niessing’s satisfaction is easy to understand: “This is a welcome confirmation of our efforts to offer high-quality, efficient and sustainable lighting solutions.”

The light, which impressed the 131 independent design professionals on the jury for its nearly invisible flat cable connection, received an award in the Lighting category of the Products discipline. Thanks to its minimal height it blends unobtrusively into the background of lighting and furniture schemes. The self-adhesive attachment makes it easy to mount and remove without leaving a trace. This considerably reduces process costs. Technically, this minimalist solution also excels with its state-of-the-art LED technology, powerful, glare-free illumination and stylish ring shape.

The iF DESIGN AWARD is an internationally recognized quality seal for outstanding design. It has been presented since 1954 by iF International Forum Design GmbH and is one of the world’s most important design prizes.
